Money Saving Ideas are always in Demand. One way I  like as a money saving Idea is buying Gift cards for restaurants.  I know you think how can purchasing gift cards save money.  Most restaurants give an extra amount of money on  a gift card for every $50.00 or $100.00 that is spent. 

Usually around Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and most definitely around Christmas are when this discount occurs.  The best ones are when they give a $10.00 card for every $50.00.  Most recently I purchased $200.00 of gift cards at Pappa’s restaurants.  I received in the mail, 2 $100.00 gift cards and in my email,  I received $40.00 in E-Gift cards.  The issue with these Pappa’s  E-Gift cards is that they must be used within a certain month, but the physical gift cards can be used anytime. 

Along with getting extra gift cards or E-Gift cards if you belong to the loyalty club for the restaurant, you will receive points for purchasing the gift cards.  There are certain times of the year, extra points are given.  For an Example, Landry’s restaurants will sometimes give double or triple points for purchasing gift cards on their web site. 

When I receive the gift cards, I check the balance to be sure it is correct.  I then write the amount on the front or back of the gift card with a marker.  Every time I use the gift card, if I have any money left on it, I will cross out the old amount and write the new amount, this way I will always know how much is left. 

I keep the gift cards in a box, I try not to carry them with me in case I lose my wallet.  I also keep a list of all my gift cards in the phone for quick reference.
